For there to be peace in Europe and for Russia to stop, Ukraine must have worthy terms – Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that for there to be a long and stable peace in Europe, worthy terms for Ukraine must be ensured in every significant security aspect.
"It is important for all partners not to forget that Ukraine is defending not only itself in this war, and especially for Europe. Russia wants our territory so that it can also seize the territories of others. If it succeeds with one state, with one neighbor, it will do the same with others. This is how Russia has moved: a piece of Moldova, parts of Georgia, the seizure of Crimea and the occupation of Donetsk, the subjugation of Belarus. Then a full-scale war against Ukraine," the president said in a televised address.
Zelenskyy said this could be stopped only by real strength and real principled positions from all partners.
"That is exactly what matters – principled positions. This concerns America, the G7 countries and European countries. For there to be real peace in Europe and for Russia to stop, there must be worthy terms for Ukraine, respect for Ukraine. In every significant security aspect: sovereignty, Ukraine's territorial integrity, security guarantees, accession to the European Union, and real reconstruction of our country after the war. We are working for a worthy peace," he said.
