Air defence shoots down over 90% of drones – Zelenskyy

Russia launched around 1,900 strike drones, nearly 1,400 guided aerial bombs and around 60 missiles of various types against Ukraine over the past week, with air defence shooting down over 90% of the drones, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"Over the past week, Russia launched around 1,900 strike drones, nearly 1,400 guided aerial bombs and around 60 missiles of various types against Ukraine. This underscores how timely the partners’ new contributions to the PURL program are, as well as the approval of the EU’s 20th sanctions package and the European support package of 90 billion euros in Cyprus," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram Monday.

He thanked all partners providing assistance.

"Our air defence system is already showing a very high drone interception rate – over 90%. And we need to work to ensure this rate continues to grow, and not only in intercepting drones but also ballistic missiles. Every additional delivery of air defence missiles means saved lives, better protected cities and critical infrastructure," the president said.
