Ukraine signs 6 agreements with Azerbaijan, including security and joint production – Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the conclusion of six agreements with Azerbaijan during his visit to the country, specifically highlighting security cooperation.

"We signed six documents today. Our teams will certainly share details later. These cover various areas. Today, the number one priority is security and the defense-industrial complex," Zelenskyy said during a joint statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Gabala on Saturday.

The Ukrainian president also announced agreements on joint production and the work of Ukrainian experts in Azerbaijan.

"Of course, we will develop our cooperation and co-production. These are very important directions that will certainly increase the security of our countries and peoples, as well as trade turnover, which we very much want to increase," he said.

Zelenskyy called the signing of documents on the joint development of the countries’ defense-industrial complexes a "very serious step."

He also thanked Aliyev for 11 energy support packages and assistance for children evacuated from border areas, and announced agreements in education, specifically for Azerbaijani students to study in Ukraine.

Aliyev, in turn, noted that "fairly serious cooperation" is currently underway between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, which was "confirmed once again" during Zelenskyy’s visit.

"Regarding military-technical cooperation, we also discussed this issue. It has quite broad prospects in both Ukraine and Azerbaijan. We see the development of military industries and the defense-industrial complex, and we can look into joint production. We have excellent opportunities in manufacturing in general. We had extensive talks about this today," Aliyev said.

According to the Azerbaijani head of state, the presidents also discussed the need to increase bilateral trade turnover. "It currently exceeds $500 million, and I think it will continue to grow. We have every opportunity," he said.

In addition to political dialogue, the parties discussed energy cooperation. "Socar has been working successfully in Ukraine for many years. There are now very good prospects. We have joint projects, initiatives, and investments. All these issues were discussed at length today," Aliyev said.
