Petition to cancel duplicated air raid alerts via loudspeakers in Kyiv falls short of required votes
A petition on the Kyiv City Council website calling for the cancellation of duplicated air raid alert announcements via loudspeakers in the capital has failed to gather the required number of votes for consideration.
The initiative was submitted on February 23, and as of April 24 had gained only 209 votes out of the 6,000 required, according to the petition platform on the Kyiv City Council website.
"The repeated announcement of the air raid signal is impractical because one message made at maximum volume, which would wake even the dead, is sufficient. It is very annoying, causes additional tension, and has a negative impact on the mental health of Pozniaky district residents. If possible, there is a request to reduce the volume. The same applies to the ‘all clear’ – a one-time notification is enough," the petition said.
In early February, a petition on the Kyiv City Council website calling for the introduction of a non-aggressive "all clear" sound signal also failed to gather the necessary number of votes for consideration.
