Death toll in Balakliia rises to two – prosecutor's office
The death toll in Balakliia, Kharkiv region, from a Russian drone attack has risen to two, updated data shows.
"One of the drones hit a residential building, causing a fire. A woman was killed. A man was killed in a car near the point of impact," the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office said.
A man and a woman who sustained injuries are utility service workers, the prosecutor’s office said.
Russian forces attacked Balakliia at around 9:30 using four strike drones, preliminarily identified as Geran-2 type.
The attack damaged apartment buildings, private residential buildings, vehicles and a lyceum.
A pre-trial investigation has been opened into a war crime resulting in the deaths of civilians (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier, Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Synehubov said a woman was killed and two more people, a man and a woman, were hospitalized with injuries following the enemy strike on Balakliia.
