Zelenskyy: Ukraine ready to allocate first tranche of EUR 90 bln package for army’s needs, air defense, winter preparations
Ukraine expects to receive the first tranche of the European Union’s EUR 90 billion support package as soon as possible and is ready to use these funds for the needs of the army, in particular for the purchase of weapons and air defense systems, as well as for winter preparations, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“We really count on the 90 billion support package to deliver the first tranche – as soon as possible. This money is for our army, and we are ready to buy weapons with it – including air defense. It is also funding that will help us prepare for winter – and work has already started to protect our energy system, and the European funds will support this as well,” he said on X.
The President also thanked all European leaders for the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and called for continued work on them.
“It is right to strengthen sanctions, especially since the Americans have eased some of theirs [sanctions]. It is difficult for Russia, and we should make it even harder for them – in order to push them to diplomacy,” he said.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s positions on the front are now more stable than in previous months and years, while Russia is losing at least 30,000-35,000 troops monthly.
As reported, the European Union has finalized a decision to provide Kyiv with a EUR 90 million loan and adopted the 20th round of sanctions against Russia due to its war against Ukraine.
