British Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and founder of the Invictus Games Foundation, said Ukraine is fighting not only for its own territory but for the principles underpinning democracy, and is technologically at the forefront of modern warfare.

"This is a war for values, for sovereignty, for whether the principles on which our democracy is founded will be defended… Ukraine is at the cutting edge of modern warfare, developing the most advanced drones in the world, adapting and building agile armed forces," he said on Thursday in Kyiv at the 18th annual Kyiv Security Forum titled "Darkness or Dawn: Is There Light Ahead?"

Prince Harry said he came to Kyiv "not as a politician, but as a soldier who understands military service, as a humanitarian who sees the human cost of conflict, and as a friend of Ukraine who believes the world must not forget this war or ignore its consequences," an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

The Kyiv Security Forum is an annual international event founded in 2007 at the initiative of Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation.
