URCS, partners to support people with disabilities affected by war

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) has signed an agreement with the Finnish Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross to support people with disabilities affected by the war in Ukraine.

"This partnership is aimed at ensuring that people who have been injured, veterans, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable categories of the population have equal access to services, opportunities for self-realization, and full participation in community life," the URCS said on Facebook on Thursday.

Kharkiv region will serve as the pilot region, as one of the territories most affected by the war, where issues of inclusion are particularly relevant.

The initiative provides for expanding access to inclusive services and barrier-free infrastructure. The program is also aimed at developing the economic capacity and self-sufficiency of people, supporting veterans, and those injured as a result of the war. Special attention is paid to creating mutual aid networks, strengthening the role of communities, as well as training specialists and implementing inclusive approaches at the local level.

The project also involves data collection and analysis to form effective solutions and promote change at the local and national levels.
