Budanov opposes mass legalization of civilian firearms

Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov said he has always been against the mass legalization of firearms for civilians.

"I have always been against this… against simply legalizing and handing out weapons to people. It never works and never will," he said on the sidelines of the Kyiv Security Forum, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Budanov said this would pose far greater problems.

"The police must work effectively. The security services must work effectively," the lieutenant general said.
