Ukraine sends military personnel to London conference on protecting Gulf infrastructure – Zelenskyy
Ukrainian military personnel have taken part in a conference in London on protecting infrastructure in Middle Eastern and Gulf countries, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"The United Kingdom and France jointly led the conference. Ukraine was invited. I joined online from the train. We discussed the issue of blocking the Strait of Hormuz and the challenges related to the war in the Middle East... We talked about protecting relevant facilities on the territory of Middle Eastern countries, civilian infrastructure, civilian populations, and some of the bases of our partners – Britain, the United States and others," Zelenskyy told journalists on Thursday.
According to him, the United Kingdom and France asked for the continuation of the conference they organized a couple of days ago at the military level, where the Ukrainian side could help.
"I think 37 countries took part in that first conference, though I do not know how many military representatives participated. Ukraine, Britain and France asked, and we sent our military personnel to this meeting in London. We will see what happens after this meeting," the Ukrainian president added.
He said Ukraine could offer, at the very least, its expertise after having managed to respond to its own serious challenges in the Black Sea.
"As for the next steps, I cannot say yet," Zelenskyy added.
