Rapid work on negotiation clusters could open EU internal market wider to Ukraine in 2027 – Kachka
Ukraine expects the European Union to open all six negotiation clusters as soon as possible and will focus on closing their chapters and meeting criteria, which, in case of success, will allow for discussions on broad integration into the EU internal market as early as next year, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka said.
"I hope that we will soon open all clusters, because there are currently no obstacles to this. I hope that this will be done quickly, although with Brussels you never know, but so far we see no obstacles to this," he said at a briefing at the Ukraine-EU business summit in Brussels on Wednesday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
Asked about various models for Ukraine’s accession to the EU currently being discussed in the media, Kachka noted that Ukraine is now at a stage of negotiations where it is important to focus on closing chapters and meeting all criteria.
"Our task is to focus on closing chapters, so I hope that this year we will hear that certain chapters can be considered closed. This also provides an opportunity next year to talk about broad integration into the internal market," he emphasized.
"Perhaps, who knows, everything can happen very quickly, and next year we will close all chapters, and then we will be able to talk about the Accession Treaty," Kachka added.
Earlier, he recalled that there are 34 chapters and 145 criteria, for the implementation of which Ukraine has adopted a National Program with approximately 1,800 measures.
