Ukrainian Red Cross Society conducts psychological first aid training for veteran support specialists
Trainers from the mental health and psychosocial support unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) conducted training in psychological first aid for specialists working with veterans in communities.
During the training, participants were introduced to the basic principles of providing psychological first aid, including principles of Look, Listen and Link, as well as common human reactions to crisis events and self-help techniques.
Special attention was given to the specifics of supporting veterans at the community level. As part of the practical component, participants reviewed typical situations and cases they may encounter in their work, discussed possible response approaches, and practiced them through role-play scenarios.
Implementation support for the nationwide mental health program "How Are You?" is provided by the Mental Health Coordination Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, with expert support from the World Health Organization. The program's implementation partner is the NGO Bezbariernist (Barrier-Free).
