If any capital other than Moscow or Minsk organizes meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, we will go - Sybiha
Kyiv is in favor of a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia and has approached certain capitals, not only Ankara, regarding the organization of a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin chief Volodymyr Putin, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha said at a meeting with journalists.
According to him, the Ukrainian side is in favour of a meeting in order to "get new diplomatic momentum."
"We asked the Turks about this, and we asked certain other capitals. We approached Turkey specifically. But if any other capital, besides Moscow and Belarus, organizes such a meeting, we will go. And this is important to us," Sybiha said.
On April 17, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his address at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, confirmed Ankara’s readiness to facilitate direct talks between Ukraine and Russia, including a possible leaders’ summit, provided both sides are willing.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha confirmed Ukraine’s readiness for a leaders’ meeting between Ukraine and Russia with the participation of the Turkish president and possibly the United States.
During the ADF-Talks public discussion at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday, Sybiha stressed that Ukraine is counting "on our Turkish friends, for example, to organize a leaders’ meeting."
"So we are ready for this meeting. Also in Turkey. I mean a meeting between Zelenskyy, Putin, Mr. Erdogan, possibly Trump. We conveyed this message to our Turkish friends during my president’s recent visit," Sybiha said.
