Man detained in Kyiv for shooting at pedestrian in Darnytsky district – police
Law enforcement officers detained a Kyiv resident who opened fire at a pedestrian in Darnytsky district of Kyiv, leaving the pedestrian wounded, with the shooter facing up to seven years in prison, the Kyiv police communications department said.
"It was established that a conflict arose between the offender, who was driving a car, and a pedestrian. The latter was crossing the road in an unauthorized place and the driver reprimanded him, after which an argument broke out between the men. The driver then drew a weapon and fired several shots at the man. As a result of the incident, the Kyiv resident sustained wounds to the leg and back," the statement said.
Law enforcement officers detained the offender and seized a rubber bullet firing device from him. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Darnytsky District Prosecutor’s Office, served the offender with a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - hooliganism accompanied by particular audacity, committed using an object prepared in advance to cause bodily harm. The article carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison.
