Suspect in grenade explosion near village council building in Kherson region detained – prosecutors
A resident of the Kherson region who threw an explosive device, likely an F-1 grenade, onto the threshold of a village council building on April 19 has been notified of suspicion and taken into custody, the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
"Under the procedural guidance of the Beryslav District Prosecutor’s Office, a 43-year-old resident of the Kherson region was notified of suspicion of attempted intentional murder of two or more persons committed in a life-threatening manner and illegal handling of ammunition (Part 2 of Article 15, clauses 1, 5 of Part 2 of Article 115, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). At the request of prosecutors, the court selected a preventive measure—detention," the regional prosecutor’s office stated on Telegram on Tuesday.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on the evening of April 19, 2026, in the center of one of the villages in the Beryslav district near the entrance to the village council building. A conflict arose between men who worked together in construction over monetary payments for work performed. during the quarrel, the man threw an explosive device, likely an F-1 grenade, onto the threshold of the building, after which an explosion occurred.
At the moment of the explosion, seven people were at the entrance. Two men sustained injuries: an 18-year-old victim suffered a shrapnel wound to a finger on his left hand, and a 31-year-old sustained an injury to a finger on his right hand. Five other citizens were not injured.
At the scene, law enforcement officers seized metal fragments, elements of the grenade, and other physical evidence.
