Bild journalist Roepcke says he will join German-Ukrainian drone maker

A columnist for German newspaper Bild Julian Roepcke, who has long covered Russia's war against Ukraine and most recently worked on Bild's Lagezentrum project focused on the war, said he would leave for a job with an unnamed German-Ukrainian drone manufacturer before the end of 2026.

"It is true that I will be leaving Bild later this year. However, I had planned to announce this myself only in a few months, so that until then I could focus fully on my journalistic work in Lagezentrum and beyond. What lies ahead is a move to a German-Ukrainian drone manufacturer that has operated since 2023 and is among the biggest suppliers to Ukraine," Roepcke said on X on Monday, commenting on numerous inquiries he had received on the matter.

According to him, the company he decided to join develops solutions that make a substantial contribution to the country's defense within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The company is deliberately keeping its public profile low in order to protect its employees in Germany and Ukraine, which is why there are no plans to disclose its name in the near future," Roepcke said.

He also thanked Bild for more than 11 years at the company and promised to say more "when the time comes."
