Kharkiv emergency medical center gets 10 EW systems for frontline medics
Ten electronic warfare (EW) systems, along with scanning equipment, were handed over on Monday to Kharkiv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine for medics rescuing civilians in frontline and border areas, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said.
"In total, our immediate goal is to equip 50 ambulances with EW systems. We are also in talks with international partners on the delivery of another 35 such systems. This equipment is vital for the uninterrupted work of our teams in frontline and border areas of the region," Syniehubov said on Telegram.
According to him, the aim is to provide comprehensive protection for medics saving civilians, primarily on Vovchansk, Kupiansk and Izium axes.
Syniehubov said that since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, four medics in Kharkiv region have been killed and more than 20 injured in Russian strikes on emergency medical vehicles while on duty.
This year, enemy drones have repeatedly attacked ambulances. In particular, on March 15, a Russian FPV drone struck an emergency vehicle carrying wounded people near Chervona Khvylia. A 56-year-old medical technician and a 27-year-old paramedic were killed. A 53-year-old medic was hospitalized with injuries.
On March 19, a Russian FPV drone exploded next to an ambulance in Hrushivka in Kupiansk district. A 57-year-old paramedic and a 31-year-old driver suffered blast injuries.
On March 25, Syniehubov said that all ambulances helping civilians near combat zones should be equipped with EW systems.
