Video from body cameras of police officers on April 18 in Kyiv published, they are suspected of official negligence
The patrol police crew, who were the first to arrive at the scene of the shooting in Kyiv on Saturday, has been suspected of official negligence, Prosecutor General of Ukraine (PGO) Ruslan Kravchenko said.
"The patrol crew arrived at the scene of the shooting. At the scene, they saw the wounded: a child, a man and a woman, who needed emergency care. There were other people nearby, including another child. The boy with a gunshot wound asks law enforcement officers not to save him, but to help his father. This is a manifestation of the incredible courage of the child. Instead, the patrol crew, having a service firearm with them and all the legal grounds for its use, actually flees the scene," he said in Telegram.
Kravchenko said due to the inaction of the police officers, the armed man continued to move freely along the street and shoot at defenseless passers-by.
"Sufficient evidence has been collected to report suspicion to two officers of the Patrol Police Department in Kyiv for their actions during the terrorist act. They have been charged with official negligence, which led to grave consequences under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," he said.
