Kharkiv resident sentenced to 15 years for providing FSB with data on critical infrastructure and AFU

A court has found a 32-year-old Kharkiv resident, an employee of a local construction company, guilty of high treason for transmitting information about critical infrastructure facilities and Ukrainian military locations to an Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) representative.

"The court sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property," the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office press service reports.

It was established that in October 2024, the defendant began communicating via Telegram with an employee of the 9th Department of the Operational Information Department of the 5th Service of the Russian FSB, who was involved in the 2022 attempted coup d’état in Ukraine and the organization of sabotage.

The Kharkiv resident regularly sent the Russian special services officer information on the location of AFU units in the form of Google Maps screenshots with coordinates.

In addition, as an employee of a construction firm involved in restoration work, the man consulted the Russian FSB on the complexity of damaging critical infrastructure structures. He emphasized the need to use FAB-type munitions for their complete destruction, as he had access to their internal technical characteristics.

The defendant also transmitted data on the positions of Ukrainian military personnel defending one of the city’s CHPPs to facilitate repeated Russian strikes.

The Kharkiv resident was detained in May 2025 and has remained in custody since then. During the court hearing, the defendant pleaded guilty in full.
