Project to protect reforms in justice sector launched in Ukraine with EU support

The Anti-Corruption Action Center together with partners, presented a new EU-funded project to monitor reforms in the justice sector during the conference "Operation European Integration: Reforms in Justice Sector," the center's press service said.

"The project, titled 'Civil Society Action to Safeguard Rule of Law and Institutional Integrity,' strengthens the role of civil society in protecting rule-of-law reforms in Ukraine amid the war and the EU accession process," the center said on Telegram on Thursday.

It is reported that the project is being implemented by a coalition of leading Ukrainian civil society organizations and provides for monitoring legislation, protecting the independence of anti-corruption and judicial institutions, assessing the performance of justice and law enforcement bodies, as well as checking integrity during key public appointments.

In a welcoming address, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova reaffirmed unwavering support for Ukraine's European integration aspirations and the importance of civil society participation in monitoring reforms. Also taking part in the opening of the event were Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov and Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka.
