More than 100 injured, 15 dead in night attack, war crime cases opened - Prosecutor General's Office
At least 15 people were killed and more than 100 injured as a result of a large-scale combined Russian attack using various types of missiles and strike unmanned aerial vehicles across Ukraine, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reports as of 8:00 on Thursday.
"Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv and other regions came under enemy fire… Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s offices in the respective regions, pre-trial investigations have been initiated into the commission of war crimes provided for by Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the SBU and other law enforcement agencies," the report says.
Investigative actions are currently underway aimed at recording evidence, establishing all the circumstances of the crimes, and bringing those responsible to justice.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, four people died in Kyiv as a result of the combined attack, including a 12-year-old child. At least 54 more people were injured, including police officers, medics, and foreign citizens. The Podilsky and Obolonsky districts sustained the greatest destruction. Seventeen high-rise buildings and 10 private residential houses were damaged, as well as a hotel, an office centre, a car dealership, a gas station, and a shopping and entertainment centre.
In Odesa, eight people died as a result of the attacks, including women aged 20-56 and men aged 23-26. At least 19 people were injured, some of whom are in serious condition. Port infrastructure, administrative buildings, educational institution dormitories, and residential buildings were damaged. A high-rise building was partially destroyed as a result of a missile strike.
In Dnipro, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, two people died and 27 others were injured, including children. Additionally, four people, including two young children, were injured in a UAV attack in the evening.
In Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region, a man died and three other people were injured as a result of FPV drone strikes. Civil infrastructure facilities, educational institutions, a hospice, a dormitory, residential buildings, and vehicles were damaged.
In Kharkiv, a hit on a roadway was recorded in the Nemyshliansky district, resulting in damage to residential buildings. At least two civilians were injured. In the Industrialny district, a car caught fire as a result of a strike.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba reported 15 dead and more than 80 injured in the night attack across the country.
