Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation installs 17 solar power plants in Ukrainian hospitals

The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation has installed 17 solar power plants in Ukrainian hospitals and plans to install equipment at one more facility by the end of the year.

"We have already installed 17 solar power plants in hospitals. This year, one more station is currently in progress at a clinic. We are actively working on new projects," the foundation told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the foundation, one of the most recent projects was the installation of a 38.1 kW solar power plant on the roof of the regional cardiology center in Kropyvnytsky. The system serves as an autonomy energy source for the most critical departments and ensures uninterrupted operation during outages.

The official opening of the station took place on April 9. At the same time, the system has been operating since mid-January and has already generated more than 3,200 kWh of energy.

The hospital has installed 77 solar panels, reinforced by an energy storage system with a capacity of 204.8 kWh. This system is the largest among all stations previously built by the foundation. Its capacity is sufficient to support the operation of operating rooms and elevators for patient transport for four hours during a full blackout.

In addition, the equipment installed in Kropyvnytsky enables the hospital to save more than EUR 6,700 annually.

The project was implemented with funding from UPF and Stichting de Boomgaard in partnership with solar technology company Solarge, the Ukrainian charitable foundation Energy Act for Ukraine, and the charitable organization Ukrainian Charity Fund "Lifeline."

UPF is a program implemented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The Kropyvnytsky cardiology center is a supercluster facility that serves nearly 36,000 patients annually. In 2025, 1,071 surgeries were performed there, including 71 open-heart procedures.

The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation provides renewable solar energy solutions for hospitals, water utilities, and schools affected by Russia's aggression against Ukraine as part of the "100 Solar Schools," "50 Solar Hospitals," and "Solar Water Utilities" campaigns. The foundation installs hybrid solar power plants with energy storage systems for social and critical infrastructure facilities.
