Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she would reaffirm Italy's unconditional support during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit on Wednesday, SkyTG24 reported.

"As is known, in recent years Italy has unequivocally stood by the country that was attacked. We did everything we could to help a people defending themselves and, in doing so, defending us as well. And that is exactly what we will continue to do, while working to build a path to peace that must be sustainable, and Italy has not stood aside from this process," Meloni said at a press conference at the Vinitaly exhibition.

She said that, specifically, the peace plan proposals include "security guarantees for Ukraine modeled on Article 5 of NATO: this was an Italian proposal, which at first everyone viewed with suspicion, and then it became a proposal included in the peace plan documents."

"We continue to do our job seriously, also trying to offer possible solutions to our allies, and it seems to me that this is something everyone recognizes," Meloni said.

As reported, Meloni and Zelenskyy are due to meet on Wednesday, April 15, at 15:30 at Palazzo Chigi.
