Zelenskyy: Ukraine proposes drone deal to Germany
Ukraine proposed an agreement to Germany regarding the production of various types of drones, and teams are beginning specific work on this, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
"We proposed drone deals to Germany, a bilateral drone-deal for various types of drones, missiles, software, and modern defense. Our teams are beginning concrete work. Our experience can be integrated into the European security system," Zelenskyy said in Berlin at a joint press conference with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz.
The President noted that 10 agreements at various levels have already been signed with Germany, including an agreement on air defense. This concerns missiles for anti-aircraft systems, in particular PAC-2 and launchers for IRIS-T.
"We must ensure such capabilities where Europeans can produce here in Europe everything that is critically necessary for the defense of Europe… This applies, in particular, to Europe's ability to produce anti-ballistic air defense in the required volumes and with the full force of protection against any drones, any aerial targets," Zelenskyy noted.
He reported discussing this with Merz, and work is underway to achieve such a result.
"Ukraine is ready to make its contribution," the head of state emphasized.
Zelenskyy also reported that intergovernmental consultations between the countries will take place on Tuesday, the subject of which will be defense cooperation and joint defense production.
"Such a format of intergovernmental consultations between our states is happening today for the first time in over 20 years. We expect the next consultations between the governments to take place next year, and not in another 20 years; God grant they take place in a peaceful Ukraine," he summarized.
