Sybiha discusses Hungarian elections and importance of unblocking EUR 90 bln loan with Kallas
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha held a phone call with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, during which he discussed security strengthening, the situation in the Middle East, as well as the results of the elections in Hungary and the importance of unblocking the EU reparations loan for Ukraine worth EUR 90 bln.
"We exchanged views on the results of the elections in Hungary and their implications for Europe’s strength. I stressed the importance of unblocking the EUR 90 billion loan to ensure continued support for Ukraine and protect Europe from the Russian threat," Sybiha wrote on X on Tuesday.
According to him, he coordinated future contacts with Kallas, discussed the European agenda and "the need to maintain unity and momentum in advancing key decisions that strengthen our common security and resilience."
"On the Middle East, we agreed on the importance of coordinated international efforts to ensure stability in the region. We also stressed the need to protect civilians and prevent further escalation," the Ukrainian foreign minister said.
As reported, the leader of the Tisza party, Peter Magyar, whose party won the elections in Hungary, said he does not support accelerated accession of Ukraine to the European Union, but does not plan to block the European Union’s EUR 90 bln loan to Ukraine.
