Russia strikes Izmail port, damaging Panama-flagged vessel and port infrastructure
Russia forces attacked the port infrastructure of Izmail, Odesa region, overnight, resulting in hits to the port territory and damage to a Panama-flagged vessel, as well as specific infrastructure elements and equipment, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba has said.
"The enemy is again deliberately striking at the critical infrastructure and logistics of Odesa region. Tonight, Russia attacked maritime infrastructure facilities in Izmail with strike drones. Several hits were recorded on the port territory," Kuleba noted.
According to him, the attack damaged specific infrastructure elements, equipment, and a vessel flying the flag of Panama. A fire broke out at one of the hit sites, which was promptly liquidated. There were no casualties.
Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper, in turn, confirmed the information about the attack and clarified the consequences, noting additional damage to infrastructure and vehicles, specifically on the territory of Izmail port, where a pier, a barge, and port equipment were damaged. Furthermore, a service station building was destroyed with a subsequent fire, two passenger buses and seven cars were destroyed, and an ambulance was damaged.
Kiper reported that the enemy launched a massive drone attack on the civilian and port infrastructure of the south of the region.
In addition, six private houses were hit, sustaining damage to their roofs: "Fortunately, there were no dead or injured. Emergency and municipal services are working on the sites."
