Everyone understands that the war must end, which is why negotiations are being conducted, stated Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
"Everyone understands that the war must end. That is why negotiations are being conducted. I do not think it will last long," Budanov said in an interview with Bloomberg on April 4.
He noted that in negotiations mediated by the United States, Ukraine and Russia have so far maintained "maximalist" positions.
According to him, Russia has a clear incentive to reach an agreement.
"Unlike us, they are spending their own money. These are huge sums—already calculated in the trillions," the Head of the Presidential Office noted.
However, he added that a final decision regarding a compromise on territories has not yet been made.
"But, in principle, everyone now clearly understands the limits of what is acceptable. This is huge progress," he emphasized.
