Zelenskyy: Ukraine wants to include air defense systems effective in Middle East in security guarantees
Ukraine wants to add to the list of weapons required for security guarantees those air defense systems that are effective in the Middle East and the Gulf but which have not been in Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
"First, it is important for Ukraine to understand specifically what the reaction of partners will be and how quickly it will come if aggression by the Russians is repeated. We agreed that our side will offer its vision, and partners will give their response to such a draft. It is important that there are no weak points or mistakes," Zelenskyy said at a meeting with journalists, commenting on security guarantees.
"The second story is the financing of our army, which must be clearly ensured. The third story is the equipment of our air defense. We want to add to the list of weapons those air defense systems that we see are now effective in the Middle East and the Gulf, but which we did not have," he noted.
The head of state added that speaking of strong security guarantees means the necessity of appropriate air defense systems in sufficient quantities.
"In addition, I do not believe that the Russians will not want to come again. But I believe that if an American military base or a joint base of America and Europe is located in Ukraine, we will have fewer risks," Zelenskyy emphasized.
