Zelenskyy says mass production of interceptors capable of destroying jet-powered drones is now a matter of time
Ukrainian military experts have demonstrated to some Middle Eastern countries how to operate interceptor drones, as part of support in building a modern air defence system that can genuinely work, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"We sent our military experts to the Middle East, including drone interceptor experts and electronic warfare experts. And we demonstrated to some countries how to work with interceptors. Did we destroy? Yes, we did. Did we destroy in one country? No, in several. And this, in my opinion, is a success," Zelenskyy said at a meeting with journalists.
"We also shot down jet-powered drones. That is a very good signal, I think. We showed that it works. Now it is a matter of time before we mass-produce interceptors that will destroy jet-powered drones," he said.
He also said that by shooting down Iranian Shaheds with its own interceptors, Ukraine has shown that achieving such results requires systemic solutions, particularly in the electronic warfare component.
"An air defence system is needed that consists of various components, and all of them must be properly integrated. That is, we are supporting the building of such an air defence system that can protect against all types of threats," the head of state said.
