Zelenskyy on Kremlin Easter truce statement: We are ready for mirror steps
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in response to Kremlin statements regarding the possibility of an Easter truce, stated that Ukraine is ready for "mirror steps" and has already proposed a ceasefire for the period of the Easter holidays, emphasizing the importance of security for citizens and real movement toward peace.
"Ukraine has repeatedly stated that we are ready for mirror steps. We proposed a ceasefire for the duration of the Easter holidays this year and will act accordingly. People need Easter without threats and real movement toward peace, and Russia has a chance not to return to strikes even after Easter," Zelenskyy noted on the social network Facebook on Friday.
As reported, Reuters, citing a message released by the Kremlin, previously noted that the Kremlin on Thursday announced the establishment of a ceasefire regime on the occasion of Easter from April 11 until the end of April 12.
In turn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi earlier confirmed the readiness of the Ukrainian side for a so-called "Easter truce," proposing a cessation of fire and energy attacks.
