Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s initiative to introduce an Easter truce has a real chance of being implemented, and Ukraine is ready for reciprocal steps in the event of a cessation of hostilities.

"President @ZelenskyUA’s proposal for an Easter truce has a chance to be realized. Ukrainians deserve a holiday without terror. We will see where and when the silence begins to work, and we are ready to reciprocate on our part," the Foreign Minister noted on the social network X, commenting on the initiative.

According to him, a lasting ceasefire could pave the way for genuine diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war: "A lasting ceasefire will pave the way for true diplomacy to end this war, which Russia will never win and which must finally stop."

At the same time, he added that Ukraine considers a ceasefire the right strategy for advancing diplomacy both in the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and in a broader global dimension.

As reported, earlier on Friday night, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in response to Kremlin statements regarding the possibility of an Easter truce, stated that Ukraine is ready for "mirror steps" and had already proposed a ceasefire for the period of the Easter holidays, emphasizing the importance of security for citizens and real movement toward peace.

As reported, Reuters, citing a message released by the Kremlin, previously noted that the Kremlin on Thursday announced the establishment of a ceasefire regime on the occasion of Easter from April 11 until the end of April 12.
