SBU and SBI transfer UAH 20 million worth of armored vehicle components to front
Based on materials from the State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), a large batch of assemblies for Ukrainian armored vehicles, discovered without confirmed origin during an investigation into a Kyiv enterprise, has been transferred to the AFU, the SBU reports.
On its Telegram channel on Wednesday, the agency noted that this involves over 3,800 components for T-64 and T-72 tanks, as well as BMP-2 and MT-LB combat vehicles.
The transfer of equipment to the front was made possible thanks to law enforcement exposing the illegal activities of a Kyiv-based enterprise, the SBU emphasized.
According to the report, an investigation by the Kyiv SBU Main Directorate and the SBI established that a company engaged in the sale of components for artillery and small arms may have used illegal schemes to evade taxation.
During searches of the enterprise’s warehouses, the SBU and SBI discovered military products of unknown origin that the businessmen had not declared in their reporting documentation, the Ukrainian special service stressed.
Specifically, this includes 109 pallets of spare parts for heavy weaponry with a book value of UAH 20 million.
The SBU emphasized that during the investigative actions, the entrepreneurs agreed to voluntarily transfer the discovered batch of components to the AFU as charitable aid for the front.
Currently, within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (appropriation, waste of property, or seizure of it through abuse of official position), an investigation is ongoing to establish all circumstances of the crime.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by employees of the SBU Main Directorate in KYIV and the Kyiv region, together with the SBI, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
