SAPO suspects serving MP of illicit enrichment worth over UAH 12.7 mln

Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has served a notice of suspicion on a member of Ukraine’s ninth-convocation parliament over alleged illicit enrichment of more than UAH 12.7 million.

"The MP acquired assets in 2020-2021 whose value exceeded his lawful income by UAH 12.7 million. These include: an apartment in central Kyiv with an area of 132.6 square meters worth UAH 5.632 million; high-end renovation and furnishing of the apartment worth UAH 5.656 million; a cottage and a land plot in the resort village of Koblevo with a total value of UAH 1.694 million," SAPO said on Telegram.

Investigators found that, despite fictitiously registering the property in the name of an acquaintance, the MP had been living in Kyiv apartment since December 2021, personally managed all renovation works and paid for them in cash.

A source in the anti-corruption bodies told Interfax-Ukraine that the MP in question is Oleksandr Kachny.

Kachny was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation from the Opposition Platform – For Life party, No. 36 on the party list. He is a member of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy.
