Poroshenko case against NSDC sanctions not considered – court cancels Friday hearing
The Cassation Administrative Court within the Supreme Court did not hold a hearing on Friday regarding the lawsuit filed by People's Deputy of Ukraine and European Solidarity party leader Petro Poroshenko to challenge NSDC sanctions imposed against him.
The hearing was scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.; however, as Poroshenko told journalists at a briefing, it became known just minutes before the start that the judges were absent.
"We were told: there is no court, the court is dismissed, and it is unknown when the next session will be," Poroshenko stated.
The politician's lawyer, Ilya Novikov, clarified that they received a phone message on the eve, April 2, regarding the cancellation of the hearing, but the court secretariat did not specify the reason or the rescheduled dates.
"This information could mean different things: that a judge fell ill and the hearing will take place next week, or that a judge has withdrawn and the process will have to start over, even though it has been ongoing since April 2025," Novikov noted.
According to Poroshenko, the case is being considered under a simplified procedure, which envisages reaching a decision within a reasonable timeframe—a maximum of two months. However, as he emphasized, "a year has passed, and there is no decision."
