Russia scrambles bombers, around 400 UAVs in Ukrainian airspace - Air Force spokesman

Since Friday morning Russia has scrambled strategic bombers and launched a large number of UAVs, the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command Yuri Ihnat has said.

"Strategic aviation bombers - Tu-95 and Tu-160MS - have been scrambled. If launches occur and missiles appear, we will certainly report on it," he said on air during a telethon, adding that in the event of launches, it would take several hours for missiles to reach the center of the country.

According to him, around 400 UAVs are currently in Ukrainian airspace.

"Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia region, Cherkasy, and from Sumy region a large group of UAVs is already moving southward. As of 07:00, approximately 240 UAVs had been recorded throughout the day, but we now have updated figures: over 400, and there is information that further launches may be carried out from various directions," he said.
