Sybiha hopes Ireland’s EU presidency starting July 1 will be time of major important decisions
Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha has expressed hope that Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the EU starting July 1 this year will be a time of major important decisions on Ukraine’s European integration path.
At a press conference in KYIV, Sybiha thanked Ireland for all the support and assistance provided, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports.
"We are grateful to Ireland for its consistent support of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. We hope that Ireland’s presidency of the EU from July 1 this year will be a time of major important decisions on this path," Sybiha said at a joint press conference with Irish colleague Helen McEntee.
Ireland will chair the Council of the EU in the second half of 2026 – from July 1 to December 31, 2026.
