Zelenskyy announces busy diplomatic day: nightly Russian attack is response to diplomatic efforts
The Russian attack on Wednesday night is a factual response to diplomatic efforts; in particular, Ukraine proposed a ceasefire for Easter, but in response, it receives Shahed attacks, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
"Today will be a rather busy diplomatic day – many contacts have already been planned, and this nightly attack is actually a Russian response to diplomatic efforts. We proposed a ceasefire for Easter – in response, we receive Shahed UAVs. We also proposed a ceasefire specifically regarding energy facilities – Russia ignores this and is again trying to hit our substations and transformers," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
He emphasized that Ukraine is working with partners for greater joint capabilities to protect life, while Russia continues to drag out the war in Europe and openly invests its intelligence for the Iranian regime to fuel war in the Middle East and the Gulf countries.
The President reported that Lutsk, as well as Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytsky regions, were under Russian strikes overnight.
"And there are still ‘Shaheds’ in our sky. In total, Russia used 339 drones against Ukraine tonight, and about 200 of them were ‘Shaheds’," the head of state added.
