Finland will not demand Ukraine reduce or stop attacks on Russian oil facilities – FM
Following the crash of Ukrainian drones on its territory, Finland is not making any demands for Ukraine to stop or reduce strikes on the Russian oil sector, stated Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.
"Ukraine has the right to defend itself. We are not making any demands on Ukraine regarding which targets it seeks to influence in Russia," Valtonen said in an interview with Yle’s A-studio program.
According to her, the security situation in the country has not significantly changed, and the drones likely entered Finnish territory by accident. The minister noted that Finland is actively developing anti-drone systems and hopes that a corresponding system will be operational within a few months.
Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo confirmed that the drones belonged to Ukraine. He reported that the crash of the unmanned aerial vehicles was recorded near the city of Kouvola, located close to the Russian border.
Orpo noted that the drones caused no damage and were not shot down, but fell to the ground on their own.
