Slavutych left without centralized power supply following morning attack, critical infrastructure on backup sources
The city of Slavutych (Kyiv region) has temporarily lost centralized power supply following a morning attack by Russia, leaving approximately 21,000 residents without electricity, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk has said.
"Following the morning attack, Slavutych was temporarily left without centralized power supply. About 21,000 residents are without light. Power engineers are already working to restore electricity to every home as quickly as possible," he wrote on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
According to him, Slavutych’s critical infrastructure has been switched to backup power sources. Heating and water supplies are maintained. Social institutions are functioning on generators. Communication and internet services remain available. "Points of Invincibility" have been opened and are ready to receive people.
The power outage in Slavutych, which is administratively part of Kyiv region but located within Chernihiv region, follows reports of a strike on an energy facility in the Chernihiv district. Local authorities noted that the city’s energy supply relies on transit lines passing through Chernihiv region, which were affected by the broader strike on the regional grid.
