AFU in almost the same positions as last year – Zelenskyy
Defense forces are in almost the same positions as last year, while Russian casualties are rising, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"If we look at last year, we’re almost at the same position, only Russian losses are growing," he said during a conversation with blogger Maks Klymenko.
As reported, on February 23, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky announced that Ukrainian forces had liberated 400 square kilometers of territory in southern Ukraine since the end of January. On March 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Defense Forces had recaptured 460 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory during counterattacks since the beginning of the year.
On March 17, Zelenskyy reported that the Defense Forces had been able to liberate more territory over the past month than the Russian occupiers had captured.
