Lithuania to provide EUR 600,000 grant for construction of park bridge in Obolon in Kyiv
Lithuania will provide Kyiv with a EUR 600,000 grant to renovate part of the park on Pryrichna Street in Kyiv’s Obolon district with construction of a pedestrian bridge, the Kyiv City State Administration press service reported.
"The bridge is being implemented with grant funds from the Lithuanian side. For Kyiv residents, this is primarily the creation of another comfortable space for walks and recreation. During wartime, such places have special significance – they help people recover emotionally and maintain psychological resilience," Kyiv City State Administration Deputy Head Valentyn Mondriyivsky is quoted as saying in the press release.
According to the statement, the park renovation project includes creation of walking routes and recreation areas, landscaping, slope reinforcement, installation of lighting and a video surveillance system with panic buttons. In addition, the space should be equipped with accessibility requirements for people with limited mobility. The project area is 2.5 hectares.
The pedestrian bridge will be built over an existing backwater inspired by King Mindaugas Bridge in Vilnius. According to the press service, the bridge will symbolize the long-standing partnership between Kyiv and Vilnius and support for Ukraine during the war.
The project is being implemented with financial support from Vilnius City Hall and the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Republic of Lithuania. The total grant assistance amounts to EUR 600,000.
