EU must be at negotiating table regarding peace for Ukraine - Belgian PM at summit
Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever is convinced that European Union must participate in negotiations regarding peace for Ukraine.
"I believe that Europe must be present at negotiating table. I do not think it is normal that we finance war, but that we are not at negotiating table," he said on Thursday upon arrival at European Council meeting in Brussels.
He also explained his previous statements regarding need to normalize relations with Russia. "If I speak about normalization of relations, then, of course, provided that we achieve acceptable and sustainable peace with Russia. This is long-term situation," Belgian Prime Minister emphasized.
Speaking about providing Ukraine with loan in amount of EUR 90 billion, De Wever stated that "we must do this." "This was politically decided, so it must be implemented. We must continue to financially support Ukraine, but we must also exert more pressure on Russia," he said.
