Russia plans to recruit 409,000 more troops by end of year – Syrsky
Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky has held a meeting regarding state of engineering equipment of defensive lines and Russia plans to recruit over 400,000 more personnel to its army by end of year.
"In 2026, Russia plans to recruit another 409,000 troops. This means one thing — enemy does not abandon its intentions and continues to prepare for further aggression against Ukraine. With improvement of weather conditions, we see increase in enemy activity at front," Syrsky said on Telegram on Thursday following the meeting.
Regarding engineering equipment of defense line, he names strengthening of fortifications, development of anti-drone protection, and preparation of settlements for defense among key tasks.
"I hear reports from military commanders, leadership of State Special Transport Service, and heads of regional military administrations. There are problematic issues — we determine specific solutions and deadlines for their implementation. Not only stability of defense but also lives of our soldiers depend on quality and speed of this work," Syrsky said.
