Russian attacks cause power outages in 4 regions, consumption rises due to cloudy weather – Ukrenergo
As of the morning of March 18, following drone attacks on energy facilities and shelling in frontline regions, there are new power outages in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv regions.
"Emergency recovery work has already begun where security conditions permit," NPC Ukrenergo reported on Wednesday.
According to the system operator, due to the consequences of previous massive Russia attacks, capacity limitation schedules (CLS) for industry are expected to be applied in all regions of Ukraine from 16:00 to 21:00.
Ukrenergo also reported that electricity consumption is showing an upward trend and on March 18, as of 09:30, its level was 11.1% higher than at the same time the previous day, Tuesday.
"The reason for the changes is cloudy weather in most regions of Ukraine (except western ones). This leads to low efficiency of household solar power plants and a corresponding increase in the volume of energy consumption from the general grid," the company explained.
Ukrenergo also asked consumers to limit the use of powerful electrical appliances during the period of forced restriction measures for industry from 16:00 to 21:00 and, if possible, to move energy-intensive processes to the nighttime—after 22:00.
