NATO redeploys some air defense systems from Europe to Middle East to protect alliance members - US commander
NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alex Grynkewich, said Thursday that the Alliance had been forced to redirect some air defense systems from Europe to the Middle East as part of a security escalation due to the war against Iran.
According to CNN, General Alex Grynkewich, commander of US European Command and the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that he has used “some of our EUCOM air defense capabilities to defense some of our NATO allies” in the eastern Mediterranean.
When asked if this meant that these air defense systems had been redeployed to the Middle East, Grynkewich answered in the affirmative.
