Trilateral negotiations ongoing, additional progress expected in coming weeks - Witkoff
US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff noted the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, which became possible as a result of trilateral negotiations involving the United States, and announced the continuation of the negotiation process.
"This week, Ukraine and Russia conducted another prisoner exchange, resulting in 1,000 people returning home according to agreements reached during recent trilateral negotiations in Geneva with the participation of the United States," he wrote on the social network X.
Witkoff noted that this exchange was made possible thanks to ongoing and detailed peace negotiations under the leadership of President Donald Trump. "Under the President’s leadership, we continue to achieve significant results, working on the formulation of a peace agreement that will end the war once and for all," the special envoy added.
He reported that negotiations are ongoing, and "additional progress" is expected in the coming weeks.
"We thank the government of Switzerland for hosting these negotiations and President Donald J. Trump for his leadership in advancing diplomacy toward a resolution of the conflict," Witkoff concluded.
