Hungarian State Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Zoltán Kovács responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s comments regarding the possibility of "one person" blocking a EUR 90 billion reparation loan in the European Union and handing over its phone number to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
These threats and blackmail from Zelenskyy have gone far beyond every acceptable limit. When someone threatens to give a person’s address to Ukrainian soldiers simply because they do not support another EUR 90 billion weapons package, that is not diplomacy, it is an open threat,” he said on X Thursday.
As reported earlier in the day, Zelenskyy expressed hope that "one person" in the EU would not block the release of the EUR 90 billion EU reparation loan, otherwise the number of that person would be provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, "let them call him and communicate in their own language."
Kovács wrote: “This is outrageous. Personal emotions have no place in matters like this. Hungary cannot be intimidated, and we will not yield to blackmail.”
As earlier reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that his country would block the European Union’s adoption of a new package of sanctions against Russia and the allocation of a EUR 90 billion reparation loan from the EU until the Druzhba oil pipeline, damaged during the Russian shelling on January 27, remains closed.
