A three-day Winter Camp 2026 on international humanitarian law (IHL) for volunteers and staff of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) took place in Lviv.

According to a statement posted by the URCS on its Facebook page, about 50 participants deepened their knowledge of international humanitarian law, the branch of law applied during armed conflicts to protect victims of war and limit the methods and means of warfare.

The program covered the key aspects of international humanitarian law, as well as the history and principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. During the training, participants also examined the relationship between IHL and human rights law, the classification of armed conflicts, and the rules governing the conduct of hostilities.

Special attention was devoted to the protection of persons and objects, including children, as well as humanitarian access and the safety of humanitarian personnel.
