Costa to Sanchez: EU will always ensure interests of its Member States

European Council President António Costa has held a telephone conversation with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, in which he expressed the European Union's support for Spain.

“I have just held a call with President Sanchez to express the EU’s full solidarity with Spain. The EU will always ensure that the interests of its Member States are fully protected. We reaffirm our firm commitment to the principles of international law and the rules-based order everywhere in the world,” Costa said on X.

US President Donald Trump reportedly announced on Tuesday, March 3, that the USA would sever all trade relations with Spain.
