European Solidarity office sends UAH 21 mln in tyres, mobile repair workshops to frontline – Poroshenko

A large batch of tyres and mobile workshops for repairing military equipment worth a total of UAH 21 million is included in a new aid package that will be sent to the front from the office of the European Solidarity party, its leader and MP Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Today from these walls we are sending aid worth UAH 21 million… There is a catastrophic shortage of wheels, and we are re-equipping entire units from winter tyres to summer ones and vice versa. This time the recipients are air assault, artillery, mechanised and airmobile brigades, a Special Operations Forces unit and a UAV battalion. Over the entire period our team has supplied tyres to the military worth UAH 500 million. Together with the tyres we are also sending two tyre service complexes that operate using Run-flat technology, which allows movement after a puncture or loss of pressure," Poroshenko said on Facebook on Wednesday.

According to him, since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine the party's office has become a volunteer hub from which aid amounting to UAH 7.76 billion had been provided as of March 1.

"Our office has been a centre of assistance not only this winter but for years even before the full-scale invasion… On February 24, 2022, hundreds of volunteers from across the city began gathering at our office, receiving weapons and ammunition. Then we decided to form the 206th Territorial Defence Battalion, from which four brigade commanders, dozens of battalion commanders and hundreds of heroes emerged. Since then, throughout all four years of the full-scale invasion, the European Solidarity office has remained one of the largest volunteer hubs. It is open to the military and volunteers, where hundreds of units of equipment are collected and sent to the frontline," Poroshenko said.

He stated that if a "raider attack" were carried out against the office, dozens of units would be left without assistance.

Earlier, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Herashchenko said there had allegedly been an attempt to evict the party from its office despite the fact that the rent had been paid three months in advance and a valid lease agreement existed.

"For us this is not just an office, we are here on absolutely legal grounds. I stress once again: all payment receipts for rent have been paid in advance, there is a new lease agreement… Any attempts to stage 'show raids' here our team will regard as a political act aimed at pressure on the opposition and the start of an election campaign by the authorities," she said at a briefing.

At the same briefing, MP Viktoria Siumar said that since the start of the full-scale invasion the European Solidarity party office has been operating as a hub for large-scale assistance to the military and civilians, and that aid from Poroshenko's team to brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has exceeded UAH 8 billion.
